hb Solar brings the Bavarian Prize back to their home turf in East Westphalia in Germany
The hb Solar company, based in Rietberg, East Westphalia, was awarded the Bavarian Prize at the International Handwerksmesse in Munich, Germany (the leading trade fair for the craft trades and medium-sized businesses in Germany). Johannes Duhay (Head of Development at hb Solar) and Klaus-Dieter Hoeft (Head of Projects at hb Solar) were presented with the prize last Sunday in Munich for their SCIROCCO photovoltaic support framework.
Virtually no extra loads or ballast are needed for our structural support system for solar panels on flat roofs – this is in marked contrast to conventional systems. What's more, roof cladding is not punctured or damaged in any way as the support structure is not bolted onto the roof. SCIROCCO secures photovoltaic panels to roofs almost completely by means of aerodynamic forces. When wind circulates around the solar panel and the rear panel of the support frame, negative pressure is produced underneath the support structure, which draws it down onto the roof.
The Bavarian jury recognized the innovative nature of SCIROCCO, which they adjudged to be a particularly sustainable technology in the renewable energy sector. The Bavarian Prize has been awarded annually at the International Handwerksmesse since 1952. It consists of a gold medal, a certificate from the President of Bavaria and 5,000 Euro.
